Crashing waves, rough seas, the impact at strike, the violent pull of a powerful fish. To prevail in saltwater conditions, you need a reel that provides overwhelming power and reliability giving you the confidence to perform in any situation. Shimano's new Twin Power SW fuses unique Shimano technology and provides uncompromising toughness to support the serious saltwater angler.Within the Twin Power SW series, anglers will uncover Shimano HAGANE reel design concept for the ability to fight big, powerful fish with confidence. Is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength. With amazing strength and durability, the Hagane Gear is at the very heart of the reel. Shimano, through state-of-the-art technologies, gives you the long-lasting smoothness and pleasure that you feel when you first use a reel, over and over again. No cutting work is applied to the teeth of the drive gear.
Instead the entire surface is calculated in minute detail by special 3D design and then formed by Shimano's cold forging technology. The result is assured resilience. It's the fruit of Shimano's inexhaustible pursuit for durability; the strength and power of forged metals continues to represent the fundamental concept of Shimano's reels. This two-speed oscillation system layers the line onto the spool in a criss-cross pattern that reduces line-to-line friction for longer casts. Aerowrap reels utilize a worm gear design to move the spool upward quickly and downward slowly to wind the line in a precise pattern, reducing friction and giving smoother, longer casting ability.
Building upon the successes of Fluidrive, which provides extremely tight tolerances and control in the cutting process, Fluidrive II polishes the gear surface to maximize tooth contact. This increases the efficiency of the retrieve for more power with less effort. The most obvious component of the Propulsion Line Management System is the new Propulsion spool lip design.
Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations it has been determined that this new spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off of the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means longer casts with less friction. The Propulsion spool also utilizes a long stroke design to further enhance the casting distance. Furthermore, there is less bouncing of the line on the spool lip like on a standard spinning spool.
Because of the unique shape of the Propulsion spool, the line flows consistently off of the spool. So, with a standard spool, friction alternates from heavy to light as the line slaps the spool lip. This causes backlash and inconsistent line speeds. The Propulsion spool lip provides consistently light friction to overcome these situations. Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power.
In some reels, the Super Stopper II can be turned off to allow backreeling for special techniques and situations. In order to support the tremendous power and rigidity, Shimano developed the X-Rigid Gear and introduced it into the heart of the Twin Power SWs body. The shape and thickness of the aluminium rotor creates high rigidity that results in more fish fighting power. Increased mass of the aluminium rotor generates more inertia resulting in easier fishing of heavy jigs and high resistance lures. By placing sealing gaskets in 12 critical locations throughout the rigid aluminium body, we are able to create a water resistant structure that can hold up against the toughest conditions and fish that Mother Nature has to offer.
By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads.
The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts. Applies pressure from above and below the drag washers and distributes that pressure across a larger surface area. This results in a stable, tough and most durable drag system Shimano has ever offered in Twin Power SW.
The first lip in the proprietary three-lipped rubber seal system is designed to keep low pressure water out. Then grease between the second and third lips resists high pressure water while enhancing a smooth rotor rotation.
