Not Compatible With Bull Barrels or. 308 / 7.62x51 Barrels. Maximize ACCURACY by eliminating looseness/slop between barrel and upper receiver.Maximize RELIABILITY by eliminating any chance of a malfunction due to loose barrel nut. Maximize SAFETY by eliminating any chance of a catastrophic malfunction due to a loose barrel. What This Shim Kit Is. This is the ONLY SHIM KIT that comes with the materials, tools and detailed instructions to provide the Fastest, Easiest and Most Precise Way to correctly torque and precisely index / time the barrel nut of your firearms for MOA Accuracy, Safety and Reliability, without any risk of damage to your expensive high precision firearms. This shim kit is the ONLY SHIM KIT (patent pending) currently available that uses one thick solid 6061 T6 aluminum Gen-2 barrel shim , which allows professional armorers as well as civilian end users, to first select and set the desired / correct torque spec (50-60 lbs for MOA accuracy) and then custom modify the barrel shim, in order to precisely index / time the barrel nut and upper receiver holes. What This Shim Kit Is Not. This shim kit is NOT one of the many cheap bags of 3, 6, 10, 20, etc. Airsoft shims "Made In China" , in which you stack multiple thin shims in the hope of indexing / timing the barrel nut and upper receiver holes. Unfortunately, this random and obsolete method does not allow for correct indexing / timing of the barrel nut most of the time and does not allow you to select the desired / correct torque spec (50-60 lbs for MOA accuracy) of the barrel nut.
Thin cheap metal barrel shims also tend to bend, twist, warp and deform i. Crumble up like foil inside the barrel nut when the barrel nut is torqued down. This can cause the shim to bind up within the threads of the barrel nut and upper receiver, permanently damaging the threads and seizing them together i. Cheap thin metal shim sets "Made In China" can also rust and corrode inside the barrel nut, causing the barrel nut to come lose over time, which can lead to a CATASTROPHIC MALFUNCTION i. Weapon blows up causing serious injury or death.
Why Use This Shim Kit? Professionals understand the importance of using the right tool for the job, in order to get the job done right and thus are always prepared and " Good To Go " when it counts! This shim kit was designed for the professional armorer as well as the civilian consumer who will not settle for or use anything less than the very best / most reliable critical components in their high-precision expensive firearms. Amateurs are always geared towards penny pinching, cutting corners and using the cheapest components possible and thus are always plagued by malfunctions, frustration, and " Failure To Preform " when it counts! You end up as worm food. BEWARE OF PARTS MADE IN CHINA!!! If the shim in this shim kit does not fit inside your barrel nut, you most likely have a cheap barrel nut that is out of spec and or was "Made In China" for use in "Airsoft Guns" and not in a real firearm. Chinese manufactures are not permitted to produce real firearms grade parts for export to the U. China produces parts made of the cheapest materials possible for use in cheap Airsoft Guns, that may also fit in real firearms but will be slightly "Out Of Spec". Barrel nuts, barrel nut shims, buffer tubes, etc... This Shim Kit allows you to torque any standard one-piece quad rail barrel nut or any standard mil-spec barrel nut on any 5.56 /. 223 / 7.62x39 / 6.8 SPC / 6.5 Grendel / Blackout AAC 300 to 35 lbs of torque Required Min.
Or 50-60 lbs of torque MOA / Mil-Spec M in. , while at the same time achieving perfect indexing / timing / alignment of your upper receiver's hole with your barrel nut's hole. This shim kit will GREATLY IMPROVE THE ACCURACY AND SAFETY of your weapon by reducing any slop or looseness between barrel and receiver when barrel nut is under torqued and will help insure that the barrel nut will not come loose through a combination of vibration and torque / twisting of the handguard, quad rail or vertical grip over time. A loose barrel nut combined with excessive head-space issues, can lead to a CATASTROPHIC MALFUNCTION i. Weapon blows up and takes off fingers, face, or other appendages. Dangerously excessive head-space is one of the main causes of chamber / receiver related explosions in 5.56 /. 223 / 7.62x39 / 6.8 SPC / 6.5 Grendel / Blackout AAC 300 rifles and pistols. Without this shim kit the odds of achieving the correct indexing / timing / alignment of your barrel nut's hole with your upper receiver's hole, as well as achieving the correct torque spec are extremely slim! Very Simple to use, And it Works, Very Nice, Thank You. Armorer's Barrel Nut Indexing Timing Shim Kit 5.56.223,7.62x39, Blackout AAC 300 (#201050097369). It Worked Like A Charm!! New item to me and can make a difference in proper installation of barrel & tube. 223 Quad Rail Barrel Nut Alignment Shim - Colt, RRA, Stag, Daniel (#200871505464). Expensive mil-spec quad rails i. Knights Armament, Daniel Defense, etc.
Use a two piece barrel nut system which allows the barrel nut to be tightened independently of the alignment of the barrel nut holes and the upper receiver hole. Therefore, barrel nut shims are not needed or used on 10% of the most expensive mil-spec quad rails and barrel nuts systems. However, most (90%) commercial quad rails i.
Yankee Hill, Midwest Industries, etc. Come with a one-piece barrel nuts in which the holes and the barrel nut are one solid unit. This does not allow the barrel nut to move independently of the holes which makes It extremely difficult or next to impossible to tighten / torque a commercial quad rail's barrel nut to the correct torque spec 35 lbs. While acquiring perfect alignment of the upper receiver hole and the barrel nut hole.
Whether you're working on a new build or just fine-tuning a current build to be the most Accurate, Reliable and Safest weapon possible, you should be aware of the importance of this critical component and the risks of not having a professionally installed barrel with a correctly indexed and torqued barrel nut. This Shim Kit provides the fastest, easiest, safest and most effective way to attain perfect upper receiver hole and barrel nut hole indexing / alignment, while attaining correct torque spec of the barrel nut, without any permanent modification or any risk of damage to your weapon. If your barrel nut is not properly indexed and tightened to the correct torque spec, then your barrel is NOT correctly installed and your weapon's Accuracy, Reliability and Safety will be in lack.. In True MOA / Mil-Spec Grade and Professionally Built 5.56 /.
223 / 7.62x39 / 6.8 SPC / 6.5 Grendel / Blackout AAC 300 rifles and pistols, the barrel nut should be tightened to 50-60 lbs of torque using a torque wrench while maintaining or attaining perfect upper receiver hole alignment with a barrel nut hole in order to achieve MOA Accuracy, Reliability and Safety. Sadly, the average person as well as many builders are completely unaware of this fact when installing a barrel and or a commercial quad rail with a one-piece barrel nut and will often make either one of two mistakes.
The FIRST MISTAKE that is commonly made, is to hand tighten the barrel nut until it stops, then tighten it with a wrench just enough to index / align the closest hole in the barrel nut with the hole in the upper receiver. This method will rarely even meet 35 lbs of torque Required Min. And will of course not reach 50-60 lbs of torque MOA / Mil-Spec Min. This means that your barrel nut can come loose fairly easy if the quad rail or hand guard is torqued by hand or if you twist too much on a quad rail with a vertical grip or just through the vibration of firing over time. The SECOND MISTAKE that's commonly made, is to torque the barrel nut to 35 lbs or 50-60 lbs and then not be able to index / align the upper receiver hole with one of the holes in the barrel nut. Often this results in having to loosen the barrel nut in order to align the holes. Loosening the barrel nut is even worse than the first mistake of not tightening the barrel nut to proper torque spec.. The Gen-2 shim installs between your barrel's extension shoulder and your quad rail's one-piece barrel nut. Once the barrel nut is tightened to 35 lbs of torque Required Min. Or 50-60 lbs of torque MOA / Mil-Spec Min. , the distance between the upper receiver hole and the closest hole in the barrel nut can be observed. The shim can then be removed and it's thickness reduced by fractions of a millimeter by sanding for 15-30 seconds (15 seconds = approximately 1/2 the rotation distance of a hole / 30 seconds = approximately 1 rotation distance of a hole) and then re-installed. The holes will then move closer to alignment while holding the correct torque spec. This process is repeated until the holes are in perfect alignment and correct torque spec is maintained. S maximizing your weapon's. Accuracy, Reliability and Safety to you?? No matter what brand of barrel, receiver, BCG, or other components you use, If your barrel nut is not properly tightened to the correct torque spec, the Accuracy of your weapon will be in lack, as your groups will not be as tight or consistent and your weapon will never achieve solid MOA (minute of angle) Accuracy. Also, the Reliability and Safety of your weapon will also be in lack, because in real world heavy use, your barrel can come loose fairly easy if the quad rail, hand guard or vertical grip is twisted / torqued by hand in combination with the vibration of firing your weapon over time.
Once the barrel nut becomes loose and starts to move, your sights and or optics will become useless, your gas tube can become bent or crushed, the piston rod can bind and fail to function (if using a piston system), your barrel can become loose and combined with excessive head-space issues can lead to a CATASTROPHIC MALFUNCTION. 1 x Gen-2 6061-T6 Aluminum Shim. 1 x Sheet of Carbide Sandpaper.1 x Shim Gripping / Sanding Tool.
